Description
Pet turtles (land tortoises like Hermann's or aquatic species like Trachemys) are long-lived reptiles: 30 to 80 years depending on the species.
Habitat
Land: secure outdoor pen, shelter, shallow water dish. Aquatic: heated aquaterrarium with a dry zone and mandatory UVB lamp.
Diet
Land: varied herbs (dandelion, clover, plantain), little fruit. Aquatic: fish, shrimp, specific pellets, vegetables.
Behaviour
Turtles are calm and solitary. Some species hibernate. Avoid frequent handling.
