Can my turtle eat chocolate?

Chocolate contains compounds or properties that are toxic or unsuited to a turtle's metabolism. Even small amounts may cause serious problems. Never feed it, not even in tiny portions or mixed into another food.

No amount is safe. Remove it from the diet entirely.

Risks: poisoning, liver or kidney damage, neurological signs, severe digestive disorders, and in severe cases death.

Vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, tremors, weakness, seizures, cardiac issues. If ingested, contact a vet or animal poison control immediately.

Choose foods that are known to be safe and appropriate for the species.
